 For the amount of time that Kylie Jenner captures our collective Internet eye, it’s crazy to think that all of 18 months ago Kylie Cosmetics wasn’t even a thing. But the family’s entrepreneurial spirit runs hot in this one, and the mania around her collections has turned into cold, hard coin—and as some just-released figures prove, Jenner’s collections are exactly the huge deal they seem like.
According to a WWD interview, Jenner made all of $10 million in one day on her birthday collection, and $18 million in one day on her holiday set. Those numbers would be insanely high for any beauty brand, but especially one that was birthed on the Internet from a 19-year-old (albeit a super-visible one, but still).
Clearly, Jenner knows what she’s doing, and it makes sense—who knows their market better than someone literally in it? Jenner turned Snapchat and Instagram into a force to make those bills, and power to her that she did so in a world that doesn’t always respect someone’s business skill based on who they are. The line hasn’t been without its drama, obviously, but based on those numbers that old “any PR is good PR” theory has held true.

Between her Quay sunglasses line and the success of KKW Beauty, it’s becoming harder for anyone to make the argument that the Kardashians are just famous for being famous. TBH, they’ve leveraged their personalities into an empire, and it’s paid off (combined with the fact that those women work, and work hard). At this point, it’s more just about watching where Jenner, Kardashian & Co. go—because where they lead, the world really does follow.
